Network issues - Cut Cables (updated)

I know there's some network buffering going on right now. Looking into things and will keep you posted.

Update:
There is a huge fiber cut in the NYC area that is affecting much of the Internet for the Northeastern United States. Unfortunately this cut is between The Buzzoutroom and the relay server. The latest ETA we have been given is 1-2 hours, assuming no other complications arise.

In the mean time I'll put the 128k Server back up but it will be buffering until its fixed.

Update #2
It seems that Level3 Networks had enough Scotch Tape to connect the wires and after about 20hrs of buffering things are back up and running fine.

"Bonobo - Black Sands" New Release and Tour

Bonobo decided to stop doing the whole DJ thing and decide to go to live instruments and live shows. That was a couple of years ago...well several in fact. The last project was "Days to Come" in 2006 and it was great. The next one out is "Black Sands" due out the end of February and I'm reeeeeley looking forward to it.
Fortunately you can get some good previews of the next tracks at www.bonobomusic.com along with the tour schedule starting April 1st in Chicago.

Oh what the hell, here's a good clip with some nice breathy vocals. See you at the show.

Four Tet - There Is Love - New Release

Keiran Hebdan has just released a new Four Tet project called "There is Love" along with a new tour and you can have a listen for yourself before its released! Four Tet has put the release on SoundCloud for streaming.
I'm listening to it right now and finding myself reaching for the volume to make it just a wee bit louder every couple of minutes. So far so great.
Update: Very great. So clean...yet dirty.

And now for something completly beautiful....New Tycho Single

I was sharing a fine Canadian beer (there are one or two) with Scott Hansen a couple of weeks ago when he was here for his Gallery opening as ISO50. He mentioned that Costal Brake the next release is going to be out in a couple of weeks. I grabbed a copy of the vinyl release (which IMHO can be framed as an art piece) and patiently waited for my electronic copy. You see, I've just moved and my boxes of vinyl and my wonderful ancient Pioneer Quadraphonic 1970's turntable hasn't been connected yet. I know...its terrible but there's something about listening to electronic equipment that's older than you are.

Well anyway. Today is that day. I received an e-mail last night with the electronic download of the release. It comes with 4 unique mixes of Coastal Brake which made my potentiometer greatly increase with each new track.

This is a very warm and bright track, I can't help but picture me on a beach here with very large waves crashing in and retreating and since we've just had the 1st evidence of snow on the ground in Toronto its very welcome.

You can have a listen to samples here as well as purchase. Right now its only available as the Vinyl release with the digital download. I'll keep you posted as its download only.

Buy this right now: The Orb - Baghdad Batteries

I must say I'm really enjoying this new release from The Orb. I mean what else is there really to say about The Orb? They have managed to put out some absolute classic downtempo and electronica staples which have helped shape the sound of many of the artists you hear on The Buzzoutroom today.
They have been through much and unfortunately this year Orb member until 1999 Andy Hughes passed away from a short illness in June 2009. The Orb has also postponed their current world tour for reasons unconfirmed. Unfortunately their website http://www.theorb.com redirects to their MySpace page.

Server Outage at the Datacenter - Updated

Unfortunately the datacenter which houses the 128k stream has had a power outage. When the power came back up the server didn't make it. They are restoring things from backup but it may be several hours before things are restored on the 128K stream.

Unfortunately we're at the mercy of the provider for things to get restored quickly.

The 24k and 64k streams are still up and running fine.

So apparently the server will take a while to recover. Fortunately we've moved the stream over to another temporary server and the 128k Stream is back up.

Are you listening to the Buzzoutroom on your mobile phone?

I've had a couple of e-mails from listeners asking if there are any apps for the iPhone or the Blackberry where they can listen to the station on their phone. I'd love to be able to do this myself but...don't even get me started on the cost of bandwidth on Cell phones in Canada.

Do you listen to the station on your phone? If so what phone and which app are you using?

Zero 7 - North American dates added

Zero 7 has announced the dates for their North American Tour. I saw them here in Toronto at this wee little venue called the Opera House a number of years back and I must say it was the best show I had seen in a long time. My expectations are high for this one.
There seems to be a little bit of controversy with this lineup and choice of redone classics. We'll see...has any of the European listeners gone to this? Let us know how it was!

Whoops!!!

So yeah...some of you listening at about 2am had 4 hours of the same song repeating...Weird thing was only the 128k stream was affected.

It was my home made server that did it. One of the balls of twineI use to tie everything together broke. Sooo I've wedged a piece of Bubble Gum next to the sound card and things should be running fine until it dries out.
