The station will be shut down this Sunday. I loved doing it but the station takes a lot of time and resources to run on my own. Thank you all for your support over the years.

Stream the shiny new Thievery Corporation - Culture of Fear

I must say I really like this thing that artists are doing placing their entire new album for listening before you buy. Its the equivalent of going to the record shop and asking the guy at the counter to spin a couple of tracks before you purchase it directly from the artist!
I'm having a listen to it right now and it really is the pure Thievery sound, 1st listening impression is that this is a good one, but don't take my word for it...Here's the listen link...don't forget to buy if you like it.

While I'm here, I took a picture today which is very distantly related to the Buzzoutroom:

This right here is Cabot Castle on Signal Hill in St. John's. Also known as the site of the 1st radio signal received from across the Atlantic Ocean in 1901.

128k Server offline...

The problem is at the relay provider just at the 128k Connection. The other server links are working so you can listen to the 64k and 24k.
We're working on it...

Update: So actually it was us. The main server which is getting on in years decided to do a spontaneous reboot. Normally the server streams will kick back on again but the 128k stream had some issues. We all have issues from time to time...

Annnnd we're back

Our firewall had a slight meltdown with a bad port. Right now we're running on a spare I've fabricated with parts from an old garage door opener, copper tubing and lots of Duct tape with our limited budget. The part will be arriving in a couple of days so fingers crossed things will stay up until then

Playlist is broken

The playlist (last 10 songs) is having some issues. Unfortunately this is at our host server not at the main server.
The only way to fix it right now is to stop the stream and restart it. Which means kicking off all listeners and I'd rather not do that since there are several 100's of you listening.

I've started looking for other options to bring you the historical playlist since I've been getting lots of e-mails asking "can you tell me what song you played at 10:05pm Monday Istanbul time??" :-)

I'll also be removing the listener map since it is only reporting a small percentage of the actual listeners on the Google Map.

I'll keep you posted.

Aes Dana - Permimeters

Vincent Villuis aka Aes Dana is out with his latest project Perimeters. Its been 3 years since we've heard anything from Aes Dana with the last 2009 release Leylines (which I loved) kept AD fans in waiting.
They won't be disappointed. His trademark tracks with that huge and spacious sound is still there. Close your eyes and you'll feel like you're in a giant room. Hopefully you'll have good set of speakers to when you listen.

Datacenter down....annnnd we're back

The Datacenter which houses the 128k stream has lost their internet connection. They're working on it...the lower bitrate streams, 64k and the 24k are still up and running...Stay Tuned.

Their routers went down...now back to the tunez

Goin on a little Vacay to Thailand....

Well in a couple of days we're heading to Thailand, Chang Mai, and the Islands in the south for a wee bit of a relaxing time perhaps DJ a sunset or two on the beach until the end of October.

In preparation I'll be rebooting the server and making sure everything is running smooth since we'll be gone until the end of October.

Of course I'll be checking in whenever we get a connection to make sure. Wish the servers luck! I'll talk to ya'all once we get there, it is one helluva long flight from Toronto.

The Orb featuring David Gilmour! THE ORB FEATURING DAVID GILMOUR!!!

Its just - I mean, I - He's just - I'm, I'm so excited!!!

Alex Patterson and David met doing some charity work getting together to do an Orb remix. It turned out so well that it eventually turned into a full LP release.
Metallic Spheres will be released on October 12th. I can't wait I can't wait...
The Orb has had some classic tracks in Electronica, Little fluffy Flouds, Spanish Castles in Space, Toxygene...to name a few.

For those of you who know me, David Gilmour is my musical hero. You can pick out the sound of his guitar with his own wailing style from anywhere. For those of you who need an introduction, David Gilmour did lead guitar and vocals for little band called Pink Floyd.If you who want to hear some pioneers in Chill (followed by some crazy stuff) check out some of PF's early releases like Meddle, Saucer Full of Secrets and Ummagumma as they explore the new sounds they could make. Remember these sounds they've created was back in the 60's and early 70's with home made analog tape loops, pitch bending and electric organs full of vacuum tubes.

Ambient Bieber?

Ok yes this is an actual post about Justin Bieber and I'm really really sorry so before you start hate-mailing me have a listen first.

Here's his latest track "U Smile" only stretched out with a great little piece software called Paul Stretch which lengthens sounds but doesn't drop the pitch.
The effect is actually pretty cool! From a 3 minute bubblegum pop song to a 35 Minute Brian Eno.

So have a listen I'm pretty sure a big foot is going to come out of the sky soon and squash this person's account like a bug.
